( COMING OUT OF MY CAGE AND I’VE BEEN DOING JUST FINE ) gotta be down because I want it all- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Staring at the dark sky Felix closed his eyes while he slowly started to walk, obviously having his eyes closed it would mean he would end up walking into someone. That, he nearly done but he quickly opened his eyes again, sighing as the darkness appeared once again. Felix was not a guy that got scared easily, but the one thing that he really hated was the dark. Sure, that might have made him seem like a wimp. That was why it was only his older brother that knew about this, after all Kieron was with him when the incident with the well happened. The two brothers had been playing and Felix was looking down a dark well. Until Kieron jumped up behind him and scared the little boy half to death. That made little Felix fall down the well, of course it was not Kierons fault at all; Felix knew that as well, because his brother stayed with him until someone came to help. That was where his parents came into it, well after a few hours or so they came to help Felix. This may have been the very reason why Felix and his brother were so close. Sighing quietly the Gryffindor walked on looking directly at the street lights, his attention soon turned to the building in front of him. Ollivanders wand shop, there it stood. Of course everyone knew what this place was. It was where most people got their wands. Felix opened the door to the shop and carefully stepped inside. Okay, so he had nothing to do today and well looking around here might do him some good.
Normally he would have been hanging around with Kieron or just with his other mates. You could say that Felix was one of the popular guys around the school. That was one thing that he did not mind at all, in fact Felix loved it. Being popular was something that anyone would have liked, although with being popular there were drawbacks. Everyone knew who you were so they knew nearly everything about you. Felix was just glad that he kept all his secrets with himself. Felix was never one to talk about his life to any random stranger, who would even think of doing that anyway? Sighing once again the young boy turned around in the shop and looked around for a while. There was going to be nothing else but wants around here, but what the heck Felix just came here because he was bored. All he wanted was a good conversation with someone, or just to hang around. His eyes were drawn to a old women with a little boy, okay now they were not going to be good for a conversation. The little boy may have been, but he looked like a first year, and well Felix could not be bothered with one of them right now. Walking backwards while he moved away from the two strangers, Felix managed to hit into someone or something. He was not quiet sure until he turned round and looked at the small petite figure. Frowning lightly Felix stared at her for a second. ”Err…sorry” His rough voice spoke out after a while of just looking at her. He thought he had saw her from somewhere, of course maybe around the school, but he just could not put his finger onto it.

I WANT TO BE RICH AND I WANT LOTS OF MONEYDON'T CARE ABOUT CLEVER DON'T CARE ABOUT FUNNY I WANT LOTS OF CLOTHES AND FUCKLOADS OF DIAMONDS I HEAR PEOPLE DIE WHEN they're trying to find them i'll take my clothes of and it will be shameless 'cause everyone knows - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Juliette had had something of a hard day. It was the last week of summer and she was working- or just sitting- in Ollivanders. Unfortunately, since she was not seventeen yet, she wasn't technically allowed to do magic outwith Hogwarts; but with such a magic environment she just had to be sneaky. Ollivander felt that she shouldn't do magic with her wand outside school until she was seventeen, out of respect and all the rest, but after many a sleepless night from an aching back, Juliette decided that she knew best what was for her. Admittedly, she was wrong, and she felt guilty whenever she flicked her wand and the boxes slid neatly back into place without any effort on her part.
Other than that, her day had been normal. She was staying in the Leaky Cauldron, away from her small, German cottage which she'd been in for the first month of the holidays. The rooms were small, dark and dingy, and the water for the showers was so cold that her heating charm had to be used to make it bearable. But it was good. She could sit and read all day, and it didn't take a long time to walk to Ollivanders each morning and back each night, usually at ungodly hours. The work at Ollivanders was hard, but between customers Ollivander spoke in low tones and kept his thoughts to a quiet mumble. He alone knew of Juliette's new found ability in the minds and he was trying to help her, unfortunately that meant him surrendering his thoughts to her helpless control. To take her mind off the current climate of things she could taste with the tip of her tongue (in the shop it tasted like wood and magic and dust) she read a lot. Muggle books, masterpieces; she learned languages, or attempted to before she got fed up of the Imperfect tense in French and the conjugation in Serbo-Croat.
And then there was the overheating. It was a hot summer outside, with customers coming in with ice cream and meowing cats that were too hot inside their fur and complaining. Ollivander never had any patience with that, and he lurked in the shadows until they became quiet and respectful of the environment, which was all too often within a minute. The shop in which Juliette stood deserved silence, it commanded respect of the ancient magic. Ollivander himself was ancient, wise beyond belief, kept alive by the magic he had been practicing for centuries. He could remember generations of wands, as though he was connected with his practice in an odd, incomprehensible way. As for the heat and Juliette, she was already ridiculously warm, as the shift that had happened made her temperature soar. She tended to wander around the chilling shop in shorts and a t-shirt, sometimes failing that and wearing short and a bikini. Today, she was being relatively decent, wearing dark denim shorts and a polka dot bikini underneath a thin green-blue tank top. She wore thin muggle rocket-dog ballet pumps on her feet and her hair was bizarrely arranged for central wizarding London, in a chopstick bun with tendrils curling and framing her pale, heart shaped face.
When there was an explosion of customers Juliette was awkwardly balanced on the frail ladder that allowed Ollivander to climb the shelves (not that he ever did any more) reading 'Le Petit Prince', a French philosophy book. Several children getting their wands for Hogwarts had remarked that it looked rather childish, but it was difficult for her to read in French and less childish than it looked. She liked the idea of being a child inside forever and never growing up to be 'une grande personne'. It was something close to her heart, and it never failed to make her smile when she read a page, or cry when a particularity sad part occurred.. However, perching awkwardly wasn't terrible comfortable, and Juliette was convinced her bum had been permanently disfigured by the wire thin steps, so she would try and become more comfortable at least. Stepping down she held the thin book in her hand and wandered closer to the main room of the shop, filled with first years and parents and grandparents. She leaned on the arch that divided the rooms whilst Ollivander worked his magic, and read, arm stretched and leg planted on the wall. Almost a minute later a heavy weight maneuvered it's way onto Juliette, pressing her into the wall. "Ow, scheisse! Gettof!" she swore through gritted teeth as it seemed to refuse to move away. Just a kneejerk reaction she supposed. The object moved away, and it took Juliette a moment to recover, summon her book using the wandless magic she was practicing and realise that the weight was not a cabinet, but a human being. A familiar human being who she swore she knew from somewhere. School? Not Germany, not with that accent. Perhaps half a minute later, it clicked. This was that Felix guy. Gryffindor, supposedly charming and popular- everything (aside from the Gryffindor part) Juliette hated.
"It's fine," she said however, dusting the backs of her legs, and trying to reach the back of her top which was bound to be covered in dust. How to react now? She looked like a flustered mess, but that was just how she supposed one felt when talked to by one of the hottest guys in her year. Felix had never so much as uttered a word to her before, even though she'd been in a fair few of her classes. How to begin a conversation? she wondered, she'd never been good at that, even with friends, and wasn't even sure if this random guy knew her name.
"Hey.. you're in my year at school right... Felix? I'm Jules," she said, attempting to give an apologetic but genuine and welcoming smile, and she hoped to god she'd stopped blushing.

( COMING OUT OF MY CAGE AND I’VE BEEN DOING JUST FINE ) gotta be down because I want it all- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ”Damn, I’m really sorry.” Felix repeated himself while staring down at the small figure. Of course the only reason that this girl looked rather small was because Felix was quite a tall guy. Around six foot something. Sure, it was not all that tall; imagine if he had been around seven foot. That would have been crazy for him. Felix would have used that to his advantage and would have made all kinds of jokes. For a second he thought about what the girl had just said to him, he had found out two things already. One; her name was Jules, and two; they knew each other? Now that was quite a shock to Felix. He tried not to look so confused so he looked behind her head and just looked at all the boxes. ”…I….err...yeah...Felix, and you Jules. mmmh” Felix was ready to slap himself in a minute, he sounded so stupid right now. She just caught him off guard, normally if someone knew him; Felix would also know who they were as well. This might have been slightly bad of him as well; he did not want to ask her who she really was. It would have made him sound a bit rude and well like all the other popular people around the school. Slowly he just nodded and tried to give her a friendly smile. ”You’re in my year? I…well I thought that you were younger, sorry again.” Now Felix was really starting to piss himself off. It had been the second time he had said sorry now. Gritting his teeth behind his mouth Felix fought the urge to slap himself on his forehead and just looked at Jules, this time with an apologetic look. He really did think that she was in the year below or something like that. Jules looked so much younger than him, almost childlike. To tell the truth, she looked pretty cute as well.
”….wait are you any of my classes?” questioned the Gryffindor while he tried to think whether she was in any of his classes. Of course there was a chance that Jules would have been in some of his classes, but really he had no idea. Let’s say that she was in his classes, did Felix not notice her because he was a jerk, ass, popular, guy with a big ego…and so on. The only reason that could have been possible was the fact that Felix was just around most of the other popular kids in the class. It was not his fault, he just spent most of his time with people that he thought he could relate to. However, half of the people he actually knew were nothing like Felix. Being popular does not mean that all those kids are the same. There were people like Felix would did not like to be the centre of attention all the time. Unless it was for his great pranks with his brother Kieron, he welcomed people to pay attention to him then. He was starting to go into his own little world now, so before Felix could go any further he shook his head slightly and returned to look at Jules. One thing that was going through his head was, ’what if she sat next to me in some class’ now to Felix that would be have been really horrible of him not to remember her. Sighing quietly, he felt the urge to say sorry to the girl again. This was just something that Felix did not want to be like; an ass, a jerk, just like the other popular people he knew.

I WANT TO BE RICH AND I WANT LOTS OF MONEYDON'T CARE ABOUT CLEVER DON'T CARE ABOUT FUNNY I WANT LOTS OF CLOTHES AND FUCKLOADS OF DIAMONDS I HEAR PEOPLE DIE WHEN they're trying to find them i'll take my clothes of and it will be shameless 'cause everyone knows - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Juliette always imagined that when a boy stammered at her like that it would be her one true love who was absolutely infatuated with her after only a glance. Ah, the girl was a romantic at heart, but in reality it just wasn't true. Hot guys stammered at her every single fucking day. And she got really, really sick of it. It was usually because of her height- the fact she was at least half a foot shorter than most average girls and at least a foot shorter than this current giant. Or it was because her hair was sticking up, or because she seemed to just react to how they were thinking and know the relatively right thing to say- even though she never did. So it was hardly surprising that this guy- Felix- wasn't stuttering over her beauty, or lack of it. It was the fact that this 'Mr Oh-so-popular' didn't know the heart shaped face and tiny height. He probably hadn't even being paying attention when they got divided into groupwork and Juliette and Marietta did all the work whilst he and his idiot mates fooled around.
And then the ultimate stumbling block when it came to Juliette. The ultimate thing that set her off. ”You’re in my year? I…well I thought that you were younger, sorry again.” Juliette felt her eyes roll to the back of her head, her teeth grind even though she tried to stop them. IT WASN'T HER FAULT ABOUT HER LACK OF HEIGHT! Talk to her mother about it! Or well, they could have, if her mother wasn't dead. Juliette sighed, and attempted to make a hand gesture to show she wasn't bothered, attempted a smile. "I get that a lot, yeah, I'm a sixth year," she said, as cheerily as possible, though a little bitterness crept through in an acid tone. Hoping it didn't show too much, Jules felt the need for damage control however and laughed at her own sillyness- something she'd learned to do after years of being impatiently and incurably stubborn. "It's fine, sorry... it's not your fault I was born small," she said, attempting to manouvre away from the wall she was trapped in front of by this hulking beast of a boy. Under normal circumstances she supposed she'd be perfectly happy being in that situation with someone as hot as him, but today she just could not be arsed, and she couldn't really be bothered making conversation with someone like him.
Arrogant twats with no brain. However, she would have to persevere, and he gave her just the topic. Ja, You were in my Charms class last year," she smiled softly and shyly. She didn't like talking to new people, especially new people who had ignored her for five years and probably mocked her when other people spoke about her (as unlikely as that was).
Wracking her brains for something else to say, Juliette came up with the perfect excuse- her job purpose. She was here to serve the customer, even if Ollivander hadn't explicitly said so. Tripping over a box and managing to scramble up a shelf she vainly attempted to smooth her crinkled and riding up tank top. A blush flashed across her cheeks and lingered in the apples of them as she 'umm'ed and 'aah'ed in awkwardness. Clearing her through Juliette spoke the immortal words. "So, what brings you to Ollivanders? Can I help you with anything?

He thought it was because he did not know who she was. However, it had been something else. Looking away from the girl that stood in front of him Felix tried not to make eye contact with her now. He did not want to do or say anything that would really annoy her now. Sure, Felix liked to annoy people but he was not the type to go around saying bad things to hurt other people. The only way he liked to do this annoying part was with his pranks. That was hardly really going to hurt anyone’s feelings, so that was part of the reason why he did these pranks with Kieron. He just nodded slightly as Jules told him that she got that a lot. Okay, to him it was not that bad since other people thought the same as him. However, that was surely and very likely going to annoy Jules. ..I..I didn't say you were small. Well I didn’t mean it that way anyway.." Felix tried to speak out as he slowly tripped over his own words. He was even starting to think that he may have sounded like a total and complete jerk there. That was not how he wanted to come across to be like. He shrugged slightly and watched her carefully for a few seconds, before she spoke again. This time he thought before even thinking about answering her.
”…Really, I was in your class. Ah geez well I guess I don’t really pay attention to anything that goes on in the class.” That statement was quite true, sure Felix was pretty smart, but there were days that he could not be bothered. However, when Jules said that he was in her class, he was quite shocked about this. Most of the people in his class were students that Felix knew. Sure, there were those few kids that he did not really talk to and had to no idea who they were, but he would have noticed them around the school once or twice. Somehow Jules had never been one of those students that were strange for Felix because he would have remembered Jules for sure. Only because she was hardly ugly and well there was something about her that was really attractive. Smiling to himself, he looked away from the girl and looked around the shop. ”..Errr. Well I actually just came in so have a look really, had nothing to do so I thought why not come in here..” Felix replied quite happily, only because he was kind of glad that the conversation was moving on now. The reason that Felix came in here was because he wanted to get away from the darkness outside, it was not all that dark but to Felix it was. ”You work here?” The young Gryffindor spoke out; it was an obvious question with an obvious answer. Of course she worked here, why else would she be helping out. Brushing his hands through his short brown hair Felix looked at all the boxes with the wands carefully placed inside them. It would have been pretty cool to work here, Felix would get to see all the different wands and well that would really interest him as well.

Of course he meant it like that. Everyone always meant it like that. It wasn't her fault she was irritatingly small and nondescript, it was the way she was born. Although she hated most popular people, she hated the fact she wasn't tall, thin and blonde like Analeigh, that Slytherin bitch, or even Elisa; the Ravenclaw Veela. Some things were just not fair. Even Felix was gorgeous, and Jules knew instantly that was part of what made him so popular in school. When she spoke to her friends at the back of class she could hear both them and other girls swooning over the 'bad boys' - including Felix- in the front row. Personally; although she liked the looks, she couldn't deal with uneducated people, being a very intolerant person. One of her many, many flaws.
"It's fine. Everyone means it that way. You get used to it." she said, brushing it off as she turned back to the stepladder and her book. Never one to take the sign, apparently, Felix felt the need to respond to her question. Juliette knew his response wasn't irrational, but he'd managed to irritate her quite enough, and the thoughts in the shop were becoming loud enough to cause her a headache. The mother was silently reprimanding her child for not managing to keep his magic within a straight line and breaking a vase whilst he tried his wand, and although she knew it would affect no one else and it would look a little odd, Juliette squinted and rubbed her temples, looking down towards the dusty toes of her rocketdogs. A few moments later she responded to Felix in muffled tones, raising her head halfway through the sentence. Mhhm... it's an odd choice of 'hang-out' but whatever, I guess I hang out here all the time. Ja, I am working here for the summer. It's a wonderful place to be." Juliette's speech showed a little of her German roots now, as it often did when she felt uncomfortable around people. She had every reason to feel uncomfortable. Hot, popular guy who was in most of her classes for the last five years who'd managed to ignore her. It wasn't that she really wanted noticed- especially now- but a 'hi' in the corridor after she'd helped him with an in class project wasn't too much to ask, was it?
"Actually, speaking of it, Ollivander won't be too happy you're back here, maybe you should go hang out someplace else.." she added quietly, catching her boss' serene expression. He scared her, but he was also reassuring. The closest thing to a parent she'd had for a long time, and she didn't want to lose him.

( COMING OUT OF MY CAGE AND I’VE BEEN DOING JUST FINE ) gotta be down because I want it all- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Jules was used to people calling her small then? If that was Felix he would not have gotten used to it, if anyone was to say anything to him then he would get really pissed off. However, that was the difference between these two. To Felix, Jules looked like a girl that did not hold grudges – well at least he hoped she did not. Or maybe she secretly hated him right now for calling her small? Felix felt really bad now and of course he wanted to make it up to her, but how was he supposed to do that? He had no idea what he would do, but maybe being nice to this girl would have helped. She was being nice to him and well it was about time Felix noticed other people rather than all the popular kids he knew. This Gryffindor was getting sick and tired of the usual crowd he would hang around with. Maybe it was time for change? Well not too much change or else people would start talking, and that would not have been good for Felix. He did not want to be the guy who was popular but got shit because he talked to the wrong kind of people. Although, there was nothing wrong with the girl that was standing in front of him right now, so what difference would it have made of he started to talk to her more? Sighing quietly Felix just smiled to the girl and looked around the shop. ”Yeah okay I guess this is a weird hang out, but I had nowhere else to go I guess.” Felix stated while looking back at the door and watched the dark sky. Okay he was going to be forced to leave the shop now, and Felix did not really want to go outside. Although he was going to have to leave at some point, staying here all night was not an option.
…How about I help you…with whatever you’re doing so I don’t get in trouble then?” grinned the young male while he glanced behind his back to see where Mr Ollivander was. Felix did not want to get into trouble with the man, and well he did not want Jules getting into trouble with him just because he was hanging around here. ”That’s if I am allowed?” Felix quickly added in with a small smile on his face. She would probably end up saying no to him anyway, but it was worth a try, and well he could get to know this girl. All those years she had been in his class, this could be Felix making it all up to her. ”I hear a slight accent on you, from Germany?” questioned the Gryffindor while a friendly smile appeared on his face. The accent did quite suit the girl, and now Felix was hoping that she was from Germany. Or else this Gryffindor would have made a fool of himself yet again. He was really good at the today. Turning his attention to the shop he looked around for a minute before opening his mouth, to speak yet again. ”So, what do you do here anyway, stack the stuff away?” he asked curiously. While brushing his hands through his hair yet again, his eyes moved around the shop again but rested on Jules and waited for her to reply.

She may have been able to hear his thoughts, but that wasn't always a good thing. 'No, just no!! she whispered back in her mind, a slight grin coming to her lips as she turned away from Felix to pick up some boxes and put them into their correct slots. It always took a long time- every box had a special place in Ollivanders shop and so after a few minutes or so of listening to Felix speaking Jules turned round, ready to start another pile.
Juliette grinned at Felix's suggestion of helping. "I guess you could help, but be careful- it takes forever," she smiled at her newfound friend. She was sure that Ollivander wouldn't mind. As serious as the old man was, Juliette knew that deep down, he was a little bit of a softy, it was just the centuries of toil that created the mystical outer shell. After speaking to Felix Juliette twirled around, dotting around the room and picking up random boxes for Felix to put away. Eventually they landed in his arms, and she grinned a cheeky grin. "I think that'll be a start- there are ladders all around, but I don't think you'll need to use them as much as I do,"
she smiled shyly, spinning back to her normal place and beginning to stack them again, climbing up the ladder with several boxes perched between her arm and chin. She listen to Felix talk more, apparently to her as she climbed, and she also heard his mind. Her comment about the ladder could be construed as something mean, but she hoped it had come off as light and cheerful, for as much as people talking about her height (or lack thereof) she didn't mind the actual height itself. Being small had its advantages, she could dot in and out of crowds and pass as a child almost half her age if she was in muggle queues or wanting discounts. Unfortunately it was hard finding a boyfriend, 'cause no one of an average height would want to date a geeky midget like Jules. She didn't mind often, but when her other friends all had their perfect matches (as perfect as they could be anyway) Jules did feel a little lonered- especially when it came to school events. Already she was dreading the Christmas Dance where she'd be the one watching the bags at their table as they all slow danced together. She'd be the one there too when all the fast dances were on, through all the dances, except when one of her friends took pity on her and danced with her (yet always with careful checks by his girlfriend who didn't want her man going off with his best friend). At this Jules sighed and shook her head, causing her to topple the ladder as she put her foot on one of the narrow shelves to keep her balance. "Haha, close call.." she laughed quietly, hoping to bring some humour to the situation. She turned briefly to glance at Felix before responding to his question. "Ja, I stay there for most of the summer, but I came over here to work and study. To be entirely honest, my English is a lot better than my German." Juliette laughed self consciously as she clambered further up the now-stable ladder.
