Such an eager gleam in her eyes when she appeared in the fireplace seemed to light up a rather weary face. Astoria had given herself an entire night without interruption because of the influx that almost demoted any chance she had of getting home. Having had very little sleep when she would actually be home, this was a great chance to stumble into bed. First however letting her dog be released from her leash first before doing anything else. Annie merely wandered away then in a sudden start bolted for the back door where the house elves let her out. Feeling entirely wiped out she called out she was home and walked to her home office to dump all of her paperwork on the couch. Surprisingly with this example of behavior her office looked somewhat tidy, which only came from a fluke in the cleaning schedule of the house elves. Looking around rather frightened she saw that everything was merely put away, well at least according to the poorly written note of apology on the desk. Sighing once she could only groan, wondering where on earth the papers were but to tired to do anything to find them.
She sometimes forgot she were magical for no reason really, just that she at times grew used to doing things on her own. The state of her office though was enough to stress her just a little, only knowing that her night could get better. Attempting some sort of crooked grin she closed the doors behind her and left kind instructions for no one to enter. Moving to the stairs and slipping of her shoes, and taking her wand from the place she secured in her boot. About to exert herself walking up the stairs she decided instead to apparate up to her bedroom, looking around lazily and not really registering anything. Almost cursing for using effort she needed to walk towards the bed and flopped over to stare up at the ceiling. Unable to really securely close her eyes when she called out for Draco again, wondering whether he was downstairs looking for her. That seemed like the type of irony she was bound to experience, and she could only tiredly giggle. She made a light sinking imprint where she lay from the thickness of the feather filled comforter and felt rather cozy.
Really with how tired she was it could have been the couch and she would have had no qualms, she hadn't felt this tired in quite some time. Knowing that her husband would most likely have some comment, she hadn't really gone over the change of career after all. Astoria had taken the job with an enthusiasm she know regretted deeply after all they talked over quite an amount of things throughout their marriage. None the less she had at least mentioned she wouldn't be in as often, but didn't go into detail as to why it was that way. She was sure though he could use his own reasoning skills but was more than willing to explain if he needed any further elaboration. Letting her mind wander she most likely would be rather startled if anyone had thought to break the silence.

He loved seeing the lighter side of his wife, the one that looked so incredibly at peace she didn't seem to notice her husband standing there watching her. "I recall a time where I was the only thing that could make you tired" he smirked loud enough to snap her out of her daze. He didn't mean to startle her, but he was too impatient to stand there forever waiting to be acknowledged by his wife. He kneeled on the bed and surprised her with a wild and unexpected kiss, as if to say he'd missed her. He'd been missing her a lot lately because she was never around. She knew she could always use the old talisman they had in the drawer that would jolt him to her needs. Though he had a very stressful day, being a cursebreaker and potioneer for Hogwarts isn't an easy job. Collecting treasures and artifacts, thats easy. Breaking through the curses and hexes they put on tombs and mystical caves to defend them was difficult.
Today's danger was a river of leech juice, which Draco deducted was due to the temperature of the acid that the dwelling leeches couldn't stand. His wife would notice there were patches on his arms and neck that were a shady orange colour. He omitted the part about his awkward meeting with Pansy, Astoria would always give him a piece of her mind and he didn't want any arguments. All he had done was wished her the best anyhow, completely unnecessary to mention. It was a friend-of-a-friend type of deal, and the fact that he saw her a few times a week, also irrelevant. She kept him up to date with her secrets, he listened. He hauled himself over the bed and shuffled to his wife's side, putting his arm around her. "Hey sweetie you remember Pansy Parkinson from school? Funniest thing, I saw her today. isn't that wierd?"
Why? I need to listen to me more he thought ogrely, but decided that while he was reminicing he might as well try to lighten the mood. "Remember the time that girl you really hated was throwing a party on the same day as yours and we gave her the explosive jukebox? Don't you miss those school days?" his smile tweaked slightly, his arms trying to curl her nestling head into his chest. Sometimes when he had to deal with incompetent staff at work or wasn't getting along with his boss, Astoria was the one he thought about to put a smile on his face.

Almost tempted to sigh at first when he didn't answer and was about to blindly search for her wand, or at least get enough strength to move over to the side table. The talisman that Draco had given to her for these very situations was in the side table. She could merely a exerted effort of a stretch and she would still judge the distance the same way. None the less she was pretty sure it would take a forklift to get her to stand up, or merely a skip of the heart. Astoria heard her husband's voice and for once didn't spring into his arms although cried out in slight of fright. Raising her hand to her lips for a moment before taking them away, "Then I got a job, yes, yes I know Dra." Astoria chimed lazily to jokingly prod him, flourishing her wrist in a lazy movement and allowing her arm to drop to her side. Still with her eyes somewhat closed she felt the movement on the bed, about to question his motives she was met with a kiss. The wild, raw emotion only sent her heart racing and took the chance to deepen the kiss soon realizing something was wrong with his neck she pushed him of gently. Noting the orange spots on his next, "Oh Draco!" She cried out in a dismay with worry that filled her eyes. Looking to his arms, and shaking her head with a smile on her face, she felt confident he was alright and watched him as the bed jumped a little. Noting he lay down next to her she welcomed the movement he went through and shifted only so he could lay where he saw fit.
Beginning to grow drowsy her eyes began to flutter right where she was already, murmuring softly to his voice identifying her with a pet name. None the less once Pansy Parkinson's name was mentioned, her eyes shot open and suddenly disconnected herself. Feeling rather cold against her husband she hid the emotion, "Yeah, funny." Realizing she was unable to hide that she was just a slight bit hurt at the mention of Parkinson's name. Astoria couldn't quite place it but it was merely old memories of going unnoticed for some time in school that hit her a little hard. Trying to cheer herself up with the thought of her son while her husband attempted to cheer her spirits. With a small smile that came to her face she nodded a little, glancing to her husband with an almost guilty expression. Quietly speaking in a tone of adoration, "You kissed me on the cheek that night." Astoria mentioned with a smile across her face, she hadn't really dated much in school so she remembered each brief show of affection. Especially when Draco Malfoy had noted their success with a kiss on her cheek, sending her absolutely giddy with happiness. Nodding briefly to his question she shifted with his gentle tug and smiled when her head was resting on his chest.
"I'm sorry I've had less time for you love, and even now I'm exhausted." Astoria lamented with a expression bristling with disdain, sighing a little when she closed her eyes. Still awake she merely felt the need to close her eyes out of stress, "I'm sure once I get all this paperwork sorted out I'll have more time." With a grin plastered across her face her voice became light and loving talking while her eyes were closed. Each letter and word pronounced with an tone of someone obviously exhausted, "You know there is always my lunch breaks," pausing for a moment with a shy look on her face for a moment. With Draco she was nothing of the sort, but she did so to put on an innocent expression, "Well, the doors do lock, " almost in a lazy state suggesting escapades that she would more than gladly follow through. Still brimming with an amusement and mischievous nature, "Well now if you are feeling to old," taking that moment to sigh,"I guess I can take other days of like I'm doing now." Her lips twitched with amusement still taking the initiative to tease her husband despite her lack of rest. The teasing was most likely retaliation in her mind for using Pansy's name but she could have been wrong. At times it was also a show of love. Just nothing to nasty, otherwise tears would start, mainly from her hazel eyes.

Draco immediately kicked himself for it when he felt his wife's jerked reaction. "I'm not sure which I miss more, Scorpius as a baby or my days at school. Each time I lost sleep. I think my eyes turned black those times" he joked, giving her shoulder a squeeze and for the first time since he entered the room he looked into her eyes, really looked. She was like an adorable pinch of sugar love. "I could get my beloved something to cure the tiredness if she desires it?" he reasoned, his voice slightly higher than normal. Draco wasn't expecting her to take him up on the offer, his fix for tiredness was a bubbling chunky purple fluid that smelled of wax. Draco insisted it tasted of raspberry when drank, but he doubted Astoria would touch it. Draco felt like he was on constant alert for the moment when Astoria would touch him with the same affection that he was showing her, but it seemed she was trying to obtain revenge.
"Ok.. I give up. My dear you have all the sleep you want. I'll be downstairs." he gave an understanding sigh and decided that connecting with her while she was tired wasn't the greatest plan. Often it was fun to try out pick-up lines and have a laugh with her, but he almost felt guilty prodding her into attention when she wanted to go to sleep. As he made his way for the door, he stopped and turned to her, taking final charge by cockily stating "And for your information, I'm never too old to show you a good time! You'll do well to remember that my dear beloved" he said with a humourously stern face, as if he was defending his male pride.

"For sure when he little," Astoria mumbled playfully recalling their son as a small child, when she could hold him in her arms and there was no complaining. She honestly adored her son but certainly missed those silent hugs before he got verbal. Sometimes becoming almost irritated, which for a while she wasn't quite able to understand. Her dear son now had a chance to move around, and a rather smart mouth. Enough to interrupt at the most inopportune times, and often leaving her and her husband without much to work with. Often the thought of distracting him or allowing him to go out, just to get some alone time. Then her thoughts lead to what her husband suggested to relieve her fatigue, that revolting potion. Not really strong enough to show her disgust, she shook her head, "mmm, I'll be fine." Really she was almost thrilled to stay up and talk but the overwhelming exhaustion was enough to take even the most resilient of desires. None the less when they started to quarrel, it would be enough to jolt her into action.
Guilt felt in the pit of her stomach with the osund of his sigh and only pouted in protest when he began to move away. Realizing that she may have gone to far she couldn’t help but be a little frusturated. Wondering why on earth her husband felt the need to conteract with leaving her alone. Sitting up in the bed with a rather bewildered expression in her eyes she could only sleepily giggle in an almost uncontrollable fit. Leaning back with both of her hands keeping her propped up she settled down, "If your going to leave me all alone, how do you expect me to sleep?" Astoria asked playfully, wanting to entice him to return back to bed. Realizing she was a little out of practice already at taming his ego, she nearly thought to give in, "That goobly goop is no solution for a good nights sleep," Astoria concluded with the exhaustion in her voice, "I bet you haven't had an authentic one for days." In an almost challenging voice, unable to really give any other solution. Her husband wasn't exactly one to be easily convinced, even if it were her there, especially if she had playfully bruised his ego in return for the shot to hers. The only time in her life Astoria Malfoy seemed to be mean would be when with her husband, although he knew that it was purely defensive...right?

"Me? Why would I need sleep when I can drink enough potions to become an insomniac?" he countered, opening the door to their en suite bathroom and running cold water over a nailbrush before using it to clean up his neck. The brush and it's modest blade were scratching at his skin until it replaced it's orange with a deep painful red. His upturned nose was the next to be scrubbed, though only the smallest freckles appeared. His simple straight hair was less silky than it usually was, and was tempted to step into the shower if his wife wasn't requiring his company. He disposed of his grey work clothes and pulled a pair of loose bottoms over his boxers.
Losing the battle seemed to be the only option. Unfortunately if Astoria had work to do that night then that meant that she was at work the following day; his day off. He made a mental note to send her an owl simply to tell her that he was missing her. He'd been trying for a while now to get tickets to a play they were acting out at Hogsmeade but to tell anyone of the name Malfoy is to arouse suspicion. Opening up the covers he crawled into bed and left the covers open for her to come inside. "I'm sorry about what I said earlier. I shouldn't have brought it up, but you know we were always meant to be together, don't you?" he asked in a voice like gravel, his hands scratching at his face to check for anymore orange chaos before putting his clean hands around his wife. Her witchery was infamous on him, and so he kept his sentences short when he suspected she was in an unpredictable mood. Though this meant he couldn't always tell if she was social or suspicious.
Wrapping his arms around her waist while turning to his side, he kept a strong hold on her possessively. He planted several kisses on her neck, and hoped they would both sleep peaceful that night.

Astoria only rolled her eyes when she heard what his solution was with a small smile on her face. Even then she still thought to talk a tone of adoration, “Oh now love, that isn’t healthy.” Entirely worried for his well being while she fought to keep her eyes open. With a slight pout in her eyes she smiled when she saw he was opening the door to the bathroom. Moving slowly to the edge of the bed to wait patiently for her husband, soon attempting to stand. Only because she wanted to sleep in something more comfortable although she was still supposed to be a little ticked at her husband. None the less, she still was going to sleep whether her husband had enough sense to. Soon softening she felt a little bit less annoyed and more at peace with her surroundings, not really bothering to change but more or less going over what ran through her mind of what she had to do tomorrow. Meeting with the headmisstress, finding out whether or not she was allowed to use the room of requirement or she would fail to mention the use of it for therapy sessions.
Surprise should not have been an element but she was rather pleased to see him walk to bed and pull back the covers, doing well to note his shirtless demeanor. Biting her bottom lip to hide her grin she soon turned with a calm look on her face, doing sure to listen intently to his words. Planting a kiss lazily on his lips before she settled to sleep on her side, with her back up against his bare chest. More than willing to allow her husband to wrap his arms around her slender figure. Lovingly staring into his eyes before she closed them lightly, welcoming the kisses on her neck with a murmur of compliance. Softly speaking as she began drifting of, "I couldn't imagine being with anyone else Draco, your the only one for me." Her words were nothing less than loving, "I feel safe with you." Words of truth since she were young, soon able to find some sleep without even having to struggle. In a world of dreams she found that it was easier to get rest, rather than stay in the world of the living full of fatigue. Sleep had been a refuge from practically anything since she were a little girl, and she felt nothing less than content knowing that nothing would happen to her once she closed her eyes for the night.
She could have thought of all the work that she would need to sort through, or even the paperwork that seemed to be endless. Even of all those souls who seemed to need her help, but for now she felt content with the solace of being at home. Thinking she could do that more often if she could just focus long enough but until then working through the kinks. Astoria could only guess that her there would be some sort of obstacles, no one ever said that anything was easy. She certainly could account for that truth on merely one hand, imagine what she could have done with two.

Astoria was the only woman that could possibly look so beautiful when she wasn't trying. Her loving words did crazy things to him. He'd never thought he could love someone so much. He felt genuine concern for all the paperwork she was doing. He wanted to see more of his wife, more than just kissing her lips as he dropped her off to work in the flying car. Waking up next to her was like love at first sight all over again, and his arms hadn't shifted all night. He didn't engage in prolonged displays of affection outside the home, so he craved the most he could while they were inside the home. When he woke up he kindly nudged her awake, remaining emotionally open to talk about things. Trying to control himself from clinging to her, he soon after disappeared into the bathroom. He loved to flirt with his wife but not in the mornings.
He was upset that he and his wife didn't go out, have a laugh, have fun. At the end of the day though they had a son, and jobs. Differing jobs. They went out for dinner of Valentines day, and that was the last time they had gone out. When he walked back into the bedroom he was taken aback by her beauty, as if in those minutes he were gone his memory had been wiped clean of it. Her body alone captured natural shine better than the most vivid holiday books. "Just ask me to give you a ride to work baby I'm on it" he told her while starting to dress himself into his normal clothes for once. The lab coat was put away and crooked over a coathanger. Amber cannons that resembled thunderstorms appeared in his eyes as he remembered their method of transportation wasn't allowed on school grounds.
How her lack of ambition crippled him, she could do so much more with her life than this. "Why do you endure endless amounts of paperwork when you could be doing something better?" he insisted, controlling the grounding clench of his throat.

She murmured in protest for a moment until she realized it were her husband's gentle prod, then feeling warmed by his closeness. While in her dreams she was playing with her son on a day of, with her husband. All of them were on the bed playing, ganging up on each other in an attempt to disarm with tickles. This was after a day at the park, at the time her son was about nine years old in this dream. Astoria envied the woman in the dream, it may have been her but at the same time one with less responsibility. The height of her career with all those that worked for her, but soon it became that she had less work. More was able to take her workload away, and her pay grade was skyrocketing, soon finding herself not as pleased. Her work was not as defined, more reliant on those around her and soon helping some get other jobs so she could get a chance to work. One day when she was offered the position to help there wasn't much thought other than to help those working for her be sent to their own directions. Able to finally have a more humbling career choice, only realizing it may have very well began to try her husband's patience. None the less she felt the need to change, not wanting to make it to obvious she hadn't had much of a time to herself.
Her eyes set on the dry cleaning thrown over the armchair as she gave a beaming smile, smiling brightly towards the entrance to the bathroom. Calling out to her husband, "Oh you got my dry cleaning, thank you so much sweetheart." Astoria had been so busy working with getting started with the Hogwarts job, she forgot one of her favorite dresses were sent. Turning to face him her face softened when he offered to take her into work, not wanting to be the one to tell him she waited for the hardened expression. Speaking then she walked with a soft stride and stood on her toes to kiss his cheek, "I take the floo passage, but it would be nice to have some company other than Annie." Astoria smiled warmly at the spark her husband had in the slight annoyance, "Oh sweetheart I do appreciate you being so considerate." Showering her husband with praise she turned to pick up the dry cleaning she moved to the bed to attend to her husband just moments before. Turning to give a double take she hid her disappointed expression realizing her husband was taking a day off, the same day she had to work. Sighing she merely thought to change into the dress, but before then walking to the bedside table to pick up the amulet. Wondering whether he was still looking at her, she kept her hand securely around the handle she drew it from the drawer, smiling mischievously. About to turn with the necklace in her hand she paused and closed the drawer, placing it on the top of the table.
Turning to his comment with a calm expression, "Sweetheart that isn't all I do," feeling a little hurt really at the present moment. Leaning softly on the bedpost she folded her arms with a certain conviction, sternly staring to his eyes. Trying to make him understand was extremely difficult, what she did was selfless really, nothing for profit. Astoria's mood was nothing like her sleepiness mood at the moment, she was as she would be always, kind but at the same time planned to at least convey something to him. This was going to be difficult for him to understand she was happy in other places of her life, not just with her husband and child. Feeling a little awkward a first, "The paperwork is a required part of my job Draco, it's not all I do, it's so much better. I help people, there's nothing better than that, I'm just switching to this new job, lots of paperwork. It will go down once I'm situated, and hopefully Hogwarts will see that it needs an on-site counselor. I'm helping students that never had the courage to ask-" Astoria broke of for a moment, "All those students in school, don't you remember that boy who finally jumped? His body across the pavement all that blood?" Wandering forward to lightly touch his arm, "I want to stop that Draco, I am in a position to do something like that and I am thrilled. Some students have come to me already," Smiling brightly with an affect much unlike what he would have usually got from his wife. "I couldn't imagine doing anything," she rose her hands in air quotes, "better" she titled her head for a moment, staring at him quizzically. Swallowing to try and wet her throat that felt so dry. Almost giving up the moment she touched his arm she retracted once she finished speaking, feeling as if she were entirely stupid for some reason. Looking rather lost she glanced down, not really wiling to bring herself to look up wondering exactly how he took of her.

She was so beautiful laying on the bed a childish side of him wanted to break that adorable smile by pouncing on her and tickling her. He had to get ready though - and it was quickly done. He let her touch his arm and heard her, "What have the students ever done for you? When have they ever expressed a wish to seek her? Did anyone help me when I was suffering from the inner turmoil of doing whats right and doing what I was asked?" without letting himself take another breath he rushed out of the room. Retiring downstairs he made himself a potion and disguised it as warm milk. It was a potion that dries tears, so that the tear ducts physically disallow them to erupt.
They couldn't afford everything they had if it wasn't for her job, but it didn't stop the bitter jealousy that those teenagers had a caring woman like Astoria to help them when she did nothing to help him when he was at school. Nobody did anything to help them, his friends followed him like bugs and the teachers didn't give a damn how lonely he felt. This past year, while they had no time for holidays, no time for family days out. He couldn't remember the last time he saw his son. He didn't think he'd admit it to Astoria that all those scared feelings were up in the air again. He didn't like it one bit, it was against all his morals to care about something that happened all those years ago. He had learned to become at peace with his powerful past. He would have told Astoria if he wasn't, even if she didn't want to hear it. His eyes were like almonds clamped open, his small lips already missing the touch of his wife.
With arched eyebrows his green eyes scanned the kitchen for any sign of movement, nothing. He hadn't expected her to follow him, their marriage wasn't what he could call blissful, but he loved her with all his heart. He just took a more reserved, logical approach to his final verdict of letting her be. The energetic maniac he used to be was the sand that disturbed the water. Settling for the fact that his wife would now presumably prefer the floo network, he created some Huffluen. It was a blue fluid soft as water, but once it was coated with some ingredients it had a beautiful smell of pineapple wine, or maybe coconut. It was for dragons, he would visit the dragon sanctuary today since his wife was working. There was a mature adult dragon there that he loved to take Huffleuen to. It was a desert dragon with silver scales and bony spikes on it's tail. Very dangerous, it's breath alone creates a cloud of hallucinogenic gas and it's senses were very powerful.
Holding the flask of Huffleuen he walked out of the kitchen and met his wife at the bottom of the stairs. "I was going to see the dragons today" he explained, expecting her to say at that moment if she still wanted a ride.

Just as Astoria had expected from her dear husband he had decided to storm from the room rather than talk to his wife. Turning with a shocked expression still, she said loud enough after his retreating form, "I do it because it's selfless, I don't do anything to get anything in return, how long have you known me?" Monitoring her response and finding it a little more defensive than usual answers to her husband when she was well rested, she couldn't help but regret her words. Wondering what exactly the reaction would be if she followed him she only stood rigidly as he brushed past. Angrily storming to the sets of drawers where she kept the amulet she slammed it in the rather neatly organized drawer. Giving some disarray to such organization that the simplest spell to reorder seemed almost agitating to even muster. Calming herself down she felt nothing less than weary to continue to get ready for work, noting that his lab coat was hung where he usually kept it. Shaking her head to realize that he had the day off, and must have felt a little agitated that she wouldn't have the luxury to take days of lately. None the less his words left her in a tearful silence, working to wipe away her tears before she got dressed.
Able to change rather quickly she just concluded to have a shower in one of the other teachers rooms if she actually felt the need for one. She had one the previous morning right after her husband had left, which truthfully hadn't been planned. Although now she wished she had just fallen asleep at school, she still wondered whether her husband had just thought to leave. Silently rehearsing what she would say in apology, because she wanted nothing more than for them not to be on bad terms. What Draco said was true to an extent, a once introverted child did nothing must to help her friends. Hiding behind her fearful mask of everyone around her and trying her best not to seem to desperate to Draco. Astoria was after all three years younger at the time, although she was only two years younger in school, because she barely missed the cut of date. That is what it eventually equalled out to anyway, with this she curiously thought to ask if mentally his past was reoccurring. Her husband wasn't exactly the share all type unless it got to the final resort, or he merely wished to share that weekend.
Astoria enjoyed having students care for her animal because she noticed spells would be practiced, such as transfiguring things in midair into a frisbee. Taking the chance to walk back and open the drawer quietly to put the amulet around her neck, wondering whether she would need to resort to this anyway. Slowly walking downstairs she slid the amulet under her dress for the time being, the chain after all could have been any necklace. Draco knew she wouldn't have moved it until she got to work and had her golden retriever situated, otherwise the dog thought of the charms she kept around her neck as a toy. Looking down with a smile to see the shoes she picked out were already there she slid them on and buckled them. Sitting comfortably on a step while she fastened the glittering heels before she stood to meet Draco's line of vision. Astoria after all was on the first step with heels, more than the same height as her husband.
Leaning forward to wrap her arms around him, she began with a whisper, "I help these children because I didn't have enough courage to help all of them at school." Pausing only for a moment before she broke from the hug slightly to instead meet his forehead, "To help you in school, I saw you were hurting and I just," frequently closing her eyes to bat away tears, "felt foolish that you would ever consider help from someone like me." Astoria was from a family that while pure-blood was considered almost as odd as the Lovegoods, only they were all sane, merely struck with a love of performance. After all, her husband had reacquainted with her after they both graduated while she worked with a traveling fair, the 'family' business. They only went to Hogwarts on pure chance, and after seeing all the trouble teenagers went through is why Astoria thought to counsel. She came from a family that was often charitable yet still managed to keep a great amount of money. The Greengrasses were some of miners, which were rather profitable considering what the usual salary would be. Giving him another kiss and drawing it out she felt her own tears leave, feeling a certain loving expression that could bat away the tears. Breaking of from him she stood on her own preparing to walk away so she could get her supplies. This was before she turned back to face him only having walked a few feet, "Can you come with me on the floo today?" Astoria asked sweetly and cutely, hoping to facilitate some sort of reaction that would let him buckle to her own will. Really she just wanted him to see how she had made over her new office really, hoping he would say yes or at least grumble and continue in compliance.

Draco hugged her back when she wrapped her arms with him. He never couldn't hold her when she could plea so effectively for affection. He felt incredibly guilty that he could only hold her with one arm since the other was still holding his potion. Once she let go he put the potion down, wishing genuinely in his heart that he could spend the day with her. His smile spread across his face as he gained an idea. When she turned to ask him to come with her in the floo network he ran toward her, held her weight and twirled her around. "Your going to be so proud of me. I have a genius idea." he grinned and before she could ask what the idea was he walked slowly upstairs.
Dying for an element of surprise, he waited until he was out of sight at the top of the stairs before pulling out his wand. "Thank you Outstanding in Transfiguration" he beamed as his body shifted and faded into a small feathery figure.
Squawking and screeching he flew for the first time, tropical colours of red and blue shot down the stairs. Draco touched her shoulder softly with his claws and perched himself there. In a funny parrot voice he squawked "Take me with you" his soft head stroking her ear. He then used his claws to put his feathers back in place, puffing them up in a comfortable bird frame. Even as a parrot he was vain. "Pleeeaseee?" his high voice squeaked.

Finding that she had given her husband a bit of guilt, enough that he had wrapped at least one arm around her while he held the potion in his other hand. All of her craft that had gone into getting him to come with her was read on her face as confusion. Looking almost lost she threw her arms up in the air as she caught the attention of a house elf. Knowing that her husband most likely had something outrageous planned she requested her dog be kept home for the day. Asking politely if they minded to throw the ball a few times, which the elf took as a personal duty to herself, walking away with conviction. Raising her eyebrow she couldn't help but stop the elf, apologizing and asking for Annie, she had been so accustomed to the dog by her side that it was almost rhythmic to have the pooch near. None the less she did ask the house elf to manage Annie into the school, so Astoria would have more time to figure out what her husband was up too. Sighing aloud she grabbed onto railing to steady herself when she saw the flash of red and blue. Noticing that the fabric of her dress had clinched on her shoulder as it would back in the old days a smile came to her lips.
Astoria had grown up in a circus, she wasn't unaccustomed to having some tropical bird on her shoulder, just not her husband. Giggling rather innocently she nuzzled him as she noted he was preening himself already, "Sweetheart, no need to worry, you make a rather handsome bird," turning her head slightly to nuzzle him. Sighing once she folded her arms and ordered the house elf to fetch an old holder that she could fasten to her arm, she couldn't help but ask, "You do know I just meant to drop me off right." And catching him before he had a chance to protest, "Fine, just don't tease Annie or you're staying home Draco, and I mean it." Astoria said in a voice that couldn't honestly be swayed by anyone, not even the adorable eyes of her son as a small child. Then explaining, "I was going to leave her but I promised a little first year that she could borrow Annie for the day." Astoria admitted this a little in her sentence before she breathed that of relief when she saw a house elf come with the leather thing for her arm. Adjusting it to her forearm she prompted him to get on it, "Well come on then, you can't stay on my shoulder the entire day, you do have claws." Getting a smile on her face she only giggled, "Your form would be a parrot," and found herself in a fit of laughter. Soon noting that her dog was nearby and the piles of work she had given notice that she needed for the day all in a small pouch. This was swung around Annie's back almost as if it were a messenger rather than a pet, smiling a little she took the leash from the hand of the house elf and walked to the floo.
"Now watch your head." She reminded Draco as Annie had already gotten in the fireplace out of habit, she couldn't help but still be snickering. Just as she settled where she felt alright to stand, she turned to him curiously, "are you sure you want to floo like that?" Astoria inquired rather curiously, already feeling the crunch of time, especially when even Annie whined in impatience. This was all mainly to check his own train of thought, wondering whether he would think to consider when she finally mentioned, "It's going to be hard flooing with you on my arm." Astoria admitted, not wanting to lose her husband to some remote part of the floo network. Waiting a little impatiently for her husband to answer her in that moment, knowing he would make up for her anxious nature later on. None the less she soon sighed, knowing that he would come up with a solution to the problem or think to leave her to it was what made him so unpredictable.

Draco wasn't sure he liked her tone about Annie. His parrot form shuffled onto the leather arm she had provided him. His parrot voice didn't seem to let him croak out more than a certain amount of syllables per breath, "Sqwaa- I'll go on my own" he cleared his throat and a high pitched metallic sound erupted from his throat. "I know it'll work" he finalized stubbornly, bored of his form already. He spread his large red wings and supported himself through the air, collecting the powder in his claws before flying into the fireplace. The sarcasm he had in his head had to be boxed in with his parrot mind, he hated being vocal as a parrot. It was humiliating. With a squeak he summoned his best imitation of a human voice "Astoria Malfoy's office, Hogwarts" it sounded like his normal voice, only with more screech to it. He then released his claws and let the floo powder fall. He could feel the fire manipulate his bird-like body but it didn't hurt his physique. The flames licked his body and it felt like a mind-transforming experience in such a small package, but the main point was that he still had a mind under all these feathers.
He hoped when he arrived in one final flicker of flame that it was the right office. He didn't know how clear he was with calling out the name, maybe he was in Annie Malfoy's office. He hoped not, he couldn't talk to strangers, not even when he was in diagon alley or hogsmeade. He flew onto Astoria's desk to wait for her despite his worries. Not that he had a problem doing it he just preferred sticking to the people he knew were of pureblood. Now, this was the part of Transfiguration he could never do at school. Whenever he turned back he would lose an arm or a leg coming back, and Professor McGonagall would need to sort him. Not this time though, Draco was going to get it right. As his parrot voice called it's spell, Draco could feel his body changing. He assumed it started with width as he could feel his bird body growing smaller. When his height too started to diminish he started to worry. Suddenly his throaty voice grew shrill, then non-existant. His eyes grew blind and the room fell silent.
Well, it's been a while since I've done transfiguration he thought to himself, wondering why he had only thought left. Had he disappeared from the room, had the room disappeared from him? He knew he hadn't got the spell right. Little did he know that sat in the middle of Astoria Malfoy's desk where the great bird had once sat waiting for her, was now nothing but a Malfoy wrapped in a gravel package.
A rock.

Astoria sighed as she waited for the flames to engulf her husband and frantically stepped into the fireplace. Tugging on Annie's leash to bring the dog up to the fireplace, and she herself then stepped up. Uncomfortably standing for a moment until she felt she could stand comfortably nodding for the house elf to hand her the floo powder as she cleared her throat. Why she felt nervous for her husband she honestly had no idea until she appeared in the office and saw no sign of him. Right away calling out softly as not to alarm him, wondering whether he had found the adjoining room as of yet. None the less she let her dog of her leash cautiously and allowed the dog to wander around to find her own retreat, a little area in the corner Astoria had made for her. None the less panic fluttered in her heart as she thought maybe to take a seat and think through her thoughts.
Wondering what on earth she would say to the regulators of the floo tunnel at the ministry honestly unable to fully grasp together the words needed to explain. Deep in thought she awaited for something to inspire her, but all she could tell was that she was worried really. Picking up the rock in the middle of her desk to tilt on her hand while she nervously hummed it soon dawned on her the composition of the rock was nothing less than magical. Picking up the rock and hurrying to the middle of the carpet she tapped it with her wand, hoping that it would be enough to reverse the spell. Making sure to lock the door and ensure the blinds were closed of course before she took that sort of leap of faith. Soon standing to fold her arms at the sight of her husband, raising her eyebrows, "And who was stubborn here?" Astoria hissed trying to keep a somewhat stern face before her features soon softened and she leaned forward to wrap her arms around him. In a nervous sort of state she was rather glad such a high level of talent went into him for his shirt was one of his favorites, the clothes had kept on despite the continuous modification. After nuzzling his shirt for a considerable amount of time she pulled away, "Next time, transform when you get here." Astoria concluded stubbornly almost daring her husband to argue against her with the sort of tone she had to her voice.
