Hello there,I refuse to believe that I'm the only one up in the middle of the night. Someone else has to have insane insomnia. I find that the strangest things keep me awake at night. All I want to do is sleep but instead I'm writing a letter to an anonymous person. How do you bide the time when you can't sleep? Farewell.

Hello Stranger, You may be the only one suffering from insomnia in the castle; I myself am awake simply due to an essay. However, I can’t seem to concentrate, so an anonymous owl is the perfect distraction. As for finding away to pass time, have you tried sneaking around the castle at night? It’s great fun and the excitement does tend to tire you out. I am wondering what it is that is keeping you up at this late hour.
Sincerely, Anonymous

Hey,Oh come on, there has to be someone else around here that has insomnia. I wish I had something like an essay to do, it's better than doing absolutely nothing. What class is your essay for? I used to sneak around the castle at night during my younger years but it just got old after a while. The only time I really do that these days is when I'm absolutely starving, then I'll take a trip down to the kitchens. Those house elves down there are the best. Where do you normally sneak around to? Everything keeps me awake, it varies from night to night. Tonight it seems like my mind wants to dwell on memories I only want to forget. ---

Hello Stranger, You’d like an essay to write? Hmm…You must be a Ravenclaw then. If you’re not, then I must inform you that the sorting hat must have at least considered putting you in Ravenclaw for a while. I can’t think of anyone who’d want to write an essay. As for sneaking around, the kitchens are always a great place to go, there always seems to be someone or another there. Even if there isn’t, the house elves are pretty great; they actually have great conversation skills and advice. I quite enjoy their company. As for me, I simply wander depending on my mood; the astronomy tower is great for those quite nights you want to think, or even for a romantic rendez-vous. But my personal favorite is the room of requirements, there is always something exciting going on there, and if there isn’t you can always imagine that there is and boom it appears. Skeletons in the closet eh? Well, like I said I have plenty of spare parchment and ink to spare so if you want to share, I’m here. (did that rhyme? Oh dear merlin a sure sign that I need more sleep)
Sincerely, Anonymous

Hey,Writing an essay would at least be productive. It drives me insane that I stay up at night with nothing worthwhile to do. But yes, you've successfully pinpointed my house. Aren't stereotypes just lovely? Hm. I don't think I've ever really ran into someone in the kitchens when I've gone down there. No, that's a lie. I've met two people down there before. But normally it's just me and the house elves. I agree with you though, they do have good conversation skills and advice. I'm comforted by the fact that I'm not the only one who has ever asked for their advice. I've never really considered the room of requirements but now that you mention it, that would be an amazing place to go. I try not to wander too much, breaking the rules has never really been my thing. That definitely did rhyme and the fact that it made me laugh is probably a sign that I could use more sleep as well. You could say I have a few skeletons in my closet. I feel petty still brooding over this but I guess since you'll never know who I am there's no harm, right? I won't go too far into specifics but about a year ago I got my heart ripped out and stomped on by a cheating girlfriend. I know it was a long time ago, I shouldn't still be thinking about it but I was in love with her. ---

Hello Stranger, Stereotypes are lovely, and well you have to fit the mold to be sorted right? Or else you end up in Hufflepuff. Not there is anything wrong with Hufflepuffs, they really are the most caring and kind people around. Sweet as can be, you really just want to hug them all when you see them. Honestly they probably are the most decent people of the whole lot here. Moving on from my unreasonable, and I’m sure slightly creepy, love for Hufflepuffs…and on to the house elves. Those elves really are underestimated. And I do believe you are the first person to ever agree with me on the fact that they give good advice. Most people don’t bother to go to them. Personally I think they are the best choice to go to, they don’t gossip and can be quite honest if you ask them to be. As for being afraid of being caught, I’m shocked, A Ravenclaw being caught? I’d think that you’d be able to get yourself out of any situations (just playing into the lovely clichés again of course). But it is a reasonable fear, the teachers can be quite angry when they find you out of bed, I would know, they’ve caught me a few times. Well if she was your first love, its understandable that it would take long to heal. I’m sure if the guy I’m with now did that to me, I’d never be the same again.
Sincerely, Anonymous

Hey,Wow. I don't believe I've ever heard someone with such a strong love for the Hufflepuff house. Though I will agree with you, they generally are the nicest people around except for a handful of them. One of my best friends is a Hufflepuff and she's one of the most genuinely kind people I've had the fortune of knowing. So now I can assume you're not a Hufflepuff. And you also enjoy wandering the castle at night and actually treat house elves as something more than slaves, so assuming off of stereotypes, I'm going to guess you're a Gryffindor? But on the subject of house elves, I agree with you completely. They're free from the circle of gossip which seems to consume this school and treat you with respect (though I think they have to do that to some extent). I know a few Ravenclaws who have gotten in trouble for being out at night, I've actually had to get a few of them during my night patrols. So how often do you wander around the castle at night? It's a little pathetic of me to still be hung up on her but it was something that really hurt me, you know? It's hard when that trust is broken and she managed to break it more than once. It's difficult to see her in the hallways, completely unaffected by everything. ---

Hello Stranger, Ding! Ding! Ding! You got it bud! The answer to the million dollar question was indeed Gryffindor. That’s the great thing about stereotypes they all seem to be true in this lovely castle. Houselves are forced to respect their Masters. It must really be the pits to be one. Could you imagine doing all the work they do? Its utter madness. Oh dear, are you a prefect ? I’m going to assume you’re not the Head Boy (but if it is you Lysander, you are in for it bud). It depends on my mood to be quite honest, there are weeks where I will sneak out every night, and other times where I will go at least two weeks without sneaking out. You never know, she may have been affected, but she may not show it. Some people are simply marvelous at hiding their feelings. But then again she could just be heartless.
Sincerely, Anonymous

Hey,I had a feeling I was right. And you are correct, though I generally don't really like the idea of stereotypes for some reason they do hold true. I guess that Sorting Hat really knows his stuff. I couldn't even begin to imagine the life of a house elf. They practically work nonstop for no personal gain, they are forced to obey commands even if it goes against what they believe, and the list goes on. Their lives are straight up terrible or I think it is. It's odd how they always seem to have smiles on their faces despite their lifestyles. I am a Prefect but not Head Boy. Though hopefully that's in my future. That would be an honor. Well, you better hope I don't catch you while you're sneaking around or I'll be forced to dock points from you. Though I probably wouldn't if I actually knew who you were, though given that these are anonymous letters and I only know you're a Gryffindor, I'd probably still end up taking some points. Sorry if that happens in the future...or if it's already happened. Yeah, it's a toss up between those two. I don't think she's necessarily heartless, despite what she did to me she's a good person. She just chose to keep her heart rather than give it to me, I guess. Thanks for listening to my troubles. It's very kind of you to do so. Anything you need to get off your chest? ---

Hello Stranger, You could always assume that any Gryffindor you catch out of bed is me and just not dock points? But I assume that that will be hopping for too much. So I’ll accept the apology instead. Usually I would have a ton to tell you, but it seems that for once, everything is going perfectly well. I’m quite content with life at the moment. I am, however, craving some apple pie. So mr. prefect what do you say to a midnight stroll down to the kitchens for some pie? You wouldn’t dock any points would you?
Sincerely, Anonymous

Hey,Yeah, I'm not sure if I'd really be living up to the whole prefect status if I let every Gryffindor get away with sneaking out at night. I swear your house is just as bad as Slytherin when it comes to sneaking around at night. I'm glad to hear that you have nothing to worry about, it's always a nice feeling when everything seems to fall perfectly into place. And you know what? Some apple pie sounds delicious. I'll meet you there. Try not to get caught, ha. ---
