she'd been here for only half an hour, but she already wished that she could leave. it had taken her only half an hour to get ready as well, a simple black dress, her ankh necklace and spotted shoes. nothing out of the ordinary for her anyway. She looked, almost normal, if it wasn't for the wavy, glossy hair that hung over her shoulders, and the lack of eye liner. she had wanted to look different, and this was the only way she knew how. she wasn't someone who was big in the fashion industry, being referred as a 'goth girl' by the muggleborns, and an 'abomination' by the pure bloods, well some of the.
it wasn't that she had a displeasing personality, no, she could be open and friendly and funny if people tried, but that was the thing, they never did. they were scared of her, scared of her speed, scared of her supernatural talents, and scared of the fact that she could kill them in under a minute, without a wand. not that she would, the new laws forbid murder, and only allowed donation of blood if a form was signed to say that the doner was willing. she hated it.sitting at a table near the back of the room, she watched the girls blush(what a tempting sight that was) and watched the young boys stammer and stutter to get their attention. watching them stumble across the dance floor, treading on their partners toes and falling on their arses. of course, her cynical view wasn't completely true, but that was the was autumn liked to picture it.
she swirled the dregs of the red liquid in the bottom of her wine glass, and sighed. alcohol didn't effect he, but that didn't stop the teachers from keeping it away from her. in their eyes, she was a minor, no matter her tolerance, or her status of life. so it wasn't wine she was drinking, but it was as cold as. blood, or, well, synthetic blood, which had been created, surprisingly recently. the laws on vampire rights had only come into effect a year before she was turned, and the synthetic blood was only concocted a mere four months ago. before that, she had to survive on the vile nutrient potions that really did nothing for her, apart from keep her alive, bloodlust roaring.
'not that the synthetic blood is any better', she thought, as she eyed the people around her, it was cold for one thing, and vampires hated cold blood. she much preferred donor blood, but she would have to wait for another few days for that luxury. she stood, and, smiriking, she was standing by the punch bowl a split second later, and raised an eyebrow at the boy standing behind it. shaking, despite her height, he took her glass from her, and swapped it for one filled with her drink of choice, and, sending a thankful smile his way, she was sitting at her table again before her could stammer through a word.

BEEN THINKING LITTLE THOUGHTS keep on walking trying to stand up attention to the details
-------------------------------------------------------------------- --Well, the night was young and even though Gage was not quite sure where he was or why there were dancing people everywhere he figured it was probably a party of some sort. It was only until he asked someone that he found out all this hubbub was the winter ball held annually...every year. Although he couldn't understand why he never remembered that it did not really bother him too much. Shockingly flourescent in a tie-dyed ensemble that could burn colors into your retinas if you weren't careful he was smiling off-handedly as he weaved in an out of crowds. The music swam over his head, floating candles drifting in lazy circles overhead.
Slowly making his way toward the punch bowl with mischief in mind he nearly bumped into a girl standing there with a cup in her hand. Stumbling backward he blinked, a bewildered expression likened to that of a blitzed squirrel swimming slowly across his face.
"Whoa, man...my bad. I totally didn't..." He trailed off and eyed the punch and the little toad ladling it out to everyone. Easily distracted by bright colors and shiny objects his gaze eventually returned back to the dark-haired girl, her placid expression catching his attention. "Hi, I'm Gage."
Lips twitched ever so slightly, studying her simple appearance and wondering briefly if he'd seen her around school before. Usually it took at least ten 'first meetings' for him to finally remember someone's first name but alas, that was price you paid for smoking too much marijuana in a seedy basement and eating mushrooms during summer break with a bunch of dirty, back-packing Muggles.

having sat on her own for a further twenty minutes, she sighed, heading at a leisurely, human pace, back to the refreshments table, planning on picking up a few bottles of her mixture to take back to her rooms with her. she couldn't be bothered with any of this any more, the happy, smiling kids, the room, smelling badly of sweat and lust and alcohol, well to her nose at least.
turning, for the first time in a year she was caught of guard as a figure pushed into her. almost instantly, her instinct kicked in, and she had the body pinned up against the wall, her fangs fully extracted, her grey eyes taking on a red tint as she snarled. she didn't know how she had missed the collision, given the outfit the boy was wearing, the colours being the brightest mixture she'd seen in a while, and, as she stepped back, breathing in to calm herself, despite not having a need to, she caught a disgusting, but familiar smell of drugs, not noticeable to the human nose.
autumn stepped back, letting the boy move away from the wall if he wished, as the pounding of his heart became to much for her. she needed to feed. the feral look on her face didn't slide, but, a mask hiding any emotions shuttered behind her eyes, and the red disappeared, but she left her fangs in plain view. might as well have some fun while she could. smirking, she watched as he started around, dazed, and turned his attention back to her. she was shorter than him, but, as per usual, that wasn't hard, but as she caught a glimpse of his eyes, she smiled in her mind. he was a cute boy, she'd admit that, although, he obviously, had a literal death wish, never mind the social one he seemed to have, talking to her.
gesturing to the boy again, he passed her another glass, as she sighed, leaning casually against the wall and looking up at the boy, Gabe he said he was called. her voice was smooth when she replied, the voice, not of a predator as such, but of someone who had something to gain from the situation. "Gabe? Well, I'm Autumn. Don't you know not to frighten a powerful lady?" she asked, raising her right eyebrow at him. maybe she'd get a doner out of this. and, obviously, with a doner, came much more.
the thing with vampire bites was, there was always a certain hint of lust involved, no matter if it was felt normally by either of the participants. venom in her fangs provided a relaxant for her prey, which, as she had seen, turned into a very, very fun liquid. she'd got many good times out of her old doners, that is, before she got bored.

ALL YOUR DREAMS ARE OVER NOW and all your wings have fallen down
-------------------------------------------------------------------- --The sensation of moving through the air at quite a high speed took a moment to process in Gage's foggy brain. Once he realized what was happening he had his back against the wall, staring into the face of a girl that neither looked amused nor particularly happy. A giggle slipped out of his lips before he could stop it, eyes dancing with a mirth that had originated out of a situation that nobody else would have found funny at all. The dark-haired girl moved away from him now, something like hunger had briefly flickered in her eyes and for whatever reason Gage wasn't heading for the hills. Probably because his fight or flight instincts had always been rather inhibited in close quartered situations. The glistening white of fangs caught his eye, as anything shiny would and he stared at them with a rather intrigued expression.
Appearing rather unfazed but rather fascinated instead had she known him at all she would have been impressed--this had to be the longest anyone had held his attention in quite a while. It took him a moment to realize she was talking to him again but when he did answered in an offhand tone, still staring at her fangs.
"Oh well, if y'wanna call me that I guess I could get used to it. It's actually Gage, kinda like the shit those Muggle teenagers put in their ears to stretch 'em out but not spelled the same." His lips quirked ever so slightly as she told him her name and his head cocked to one side, she didn't look like an Autumn. She should have been named after a cat, smug and satisfied, a kitty with an agenda. "Autumn, the season where everything dies, man that's a heavy name to carry around."
At the mention of power Gage had to stop himself from rolling his eyes, a hand coming up and flicking the word away as though it were nothing but an annoying mosquito. "Power is nothing but a master to serve, man...please tell me you're not another fascist kitten with a whip. People don't recognize that what they think empowers them enslaves them, you're enslaved and you just won't admit it." Pausing a moment, as if to contemplate what he had just said it was rather obvious he didn't when he reached a hand up toward her mouth, "So...can I touch 'em, Autumn?"

autumn's eyes widened in astonishment as agiggle escaped the older boys lips as she pinned him against the wall. why was he laughing? she could snap his neck with the flick of a finger, in less than a juffy, and he was fucking laughing?! usually, that would make her madder, but it was christmas, and she was being good about it, reluctantly releasing the boy as his blood began to call to her.
if she could blush, she would be at the very moment. luckily for her, there was no way for that to happy, so she settled for a apologetic smile at the boy. she was honestly to busy staring at his outfit, and, all round, him, to really listen to what he said in the first place. "Oh...sorry?" she mummered, lifting her glass to her lips, trying to hide the length that her fangs were growing to. she really wanted this boy. for some funny reason. he wasn't slytherin, and he was completely different from anyone she would usually associate with, but he smelt delicious, and he didn't honestly look the much worse, if you didn't count the clothes.
she laughed inwardly at his insight on her name, and spoke directly. "Honey, I'm dead. It's a fitting name" laughter clear in her voice. her lips quirked at his speel about power and masters and she debated her reply silently. obviously the boy was bitter, about what, she didn't know, but there was something. and he still hadn't caught grasp of the concent that she had more power in her little toe than he did in most of his body. "Darling, you have no idea." she muttered, only semi-under her breath, but almost instantly he raised his hand to her face, and she caught it with her oiwn, and questioning look on her face, which only darkened when he asked his question. A look of bemusement crossed her face. "Why are you not scared of me? Why are you not running?" genuine confusing cloding her voice, she looking up into his eyes, for the first time in a year, feeling uncertain.

BUT I KNOW ONE FACT i'll be one tough act to follow
-------------------------------------------------------------------- --Girls these days, always so damned serious. He supposed that not everybody could be like Shea, fun-loving and full of sunshine and rainbows. Everybody had their hang ups and some were more obvious than others. Gage didn't really dwell on his own, rather he made peace with what bothered him and moved on from there.
The fact that this girl was a vampire did next to nothing in the way of striking fear in him. Instead he felt fascination tinged with pity, his murky mind registering the fact that her physical capabilities were greater than his own. He figured it was a well-known fact that sports and muscles were never words even used in the same sentence when describing Gage Keegan Faust. Body moving absent-mindedly along with the music that pounded into his ears, eyes half-lidded as he listened to her with one ear--the other taking in the music and quietly evaluating it.
"Obviously not quite dead enough. There isn't anything malodorous lingering in the room." His attempt at humor was nearly lost to the dull roar of the party. Gage was unaware of the fact that she had less than chaste thoughts running through her head.
When she queried him over why he wasn't running away screaming he shrugged his shoulders. "I dunno, s'pose curiosity motivated the cat or something to that effect. I don't run and hide very easy."

she kept one eye on the room, zeroing in on anyone that seemed at potential threat. but then again, everyone was a potential threat in this state of mind. she downed the drink in her hand, needing something, anything to take her mind of the smell of the taller boy's blood. something, anything. a giggle escaped her lips as she watched his 'dancing'. "what have you been taking?" she asked with a giggle, but also genuinely curious. that was another thing that she envied, drugs and alcohol had no effect, due to the fact that everything travelled through blood to the brain.
that was why she needed blood to survive. she didn't have red blood cells any more, no way to get oxygen to her brain. that was what the artificial blood, or doners were for, to power her. "bad smell or not buddy, i guarantee you, i am very much dead. check my pulse." that was another thing. no one believed you at first. no, the fangs, and the super strength and the blood drinking wasn't enough for these people, they still had no belief that she was what she was. dead. maybe she couldn't come to terms with it fast enough, but it didn't mean everyone else couldn't. it wasn't that shocking to have a vampire student was it?
she was stunned. moments passed, nothing being said, as she gaped at the boy towering over her. curiosity? that's what was pulling him to his potential death? he would have been fine on a normal day, during classes, but socially, when autumn wasn't as focused on not hurting someone, that was the dangerous times. "you're comparing yourself to a cat?" was all she could say, eyes still wide as she stared in shock.

WE HAD A GOOD RUN, NOW I'M SETTING YOU FREE to do as you want, to do as you please
-------------------------------------------------------------------- --Often he would wonder over the strange language of girls. Even though this particular female was by most accounts dead she was still a girl. A strange one but that didn't seem to bother him as he was also, by most accounts, stranger still. She was watching him now and as he she asked him what he was on he scoffed and shook his head. Lips pursing ever so slightly in what he assumed was a no-nonsense face it appeared as though he was almost disappointed in her.
"Tsk, tsk...I haven't done any mind-altering substances for a week now. There might be some left over stuff lingering in my blood stream but other than that...I just like dancin'."
And with that said he smirked and spun on his heel. Really, people needed to lighten up. Why come to a dance (if that was what this was, he still wasn't entirely sure) if you weren't gonna dance? As far as things were going this entire night wasn't a complete bust. He had managed to find someone vaguely interesting to keep his attention for more than a few minutes. Eyes turning to the punch bowl he smirked ever so slightly, "Sorry, I don't feel up girls--thanks for the invitation though."
A mischievous tint flew into the corners of his eyes, although one might have a hard time seeing it with all this ridiculous dim lighting. Gave the unfortunate looking people a chance, he supposed. "Cat, shaggy dog...y'know. Why what's the matter?"
