she wandered across the room quietly, making sure she had a her wand, and her little bottle of goodness with her. she pulled the door open slowly, pulling it shut behind her, and wandering down the hallway, and stairs, thoughts swirling. she didn't know what to expect tonight. maybe it would distract her from everything. that was the goal anyway. jumping from the landing, she bent her legs, in a crouch as her feet hit the ground, a grin on her lips. a bottle of firewhiskey was in her hands, and she had just jumped from the top off about twenty steps, a new record for her, at least, without falling on her face.
the last few days had been stressful for her, what with the arguments with score, studying, and the trouble she was having with her family, and her brother. nothing that bad, but it was pressing down on her, making her head frazzled and stopping her from sleeping. the volume of food she usually consumed had dropped by over half, her weight, small already, dropping. not that it was noticeable, she pulled it off, being short anyway. you couldn't see her ribs, which was a good sign. it said that she had a while to go before she was unhealthy enough to pay attention to herself as much as she used to. with the flick of her wand, she re-lit the fire, which the house elves had put our hours ago, shivering slightly. light, which were off, had automatically turned on as soon as her slipper-clad toes touched the floor. another flick, and they had dulled to a soft glow, flickering slightly as the magic got used to being used at that level. it was hurting her eyes anyway, what with her sight charms wearing off.
settling down on one of the couches, she stretched out, moving, despite the time, with a catlike grace. the bottle was settled on the floor, and, clad in only a pair of flannel pyjama bottom, a pink tank top, and a cardigan, hanging open, jersey settled down to wait on her companion, heat slowly filling the dim room and warming the girl, who, spread eagle across the couch, was tempted to fall back asleep. although, how she could sleep on the fancy couch, and not her bed was a mystery to her.

--- i'll be there when you close your eyes ,. ( HOLD YOU TIGHT, SAY GOODNIGHT ) the night had started out rather quiet, as it always had. it was the weekend, and for jack, it wasn't a night where you'd find him curled in bed. he just seemed to never be able to sleep on the weekends. maybe it's because he didn't go to school and wasn't so tired, maybe it was because he was just more energetic and willing to do something more fun the schoolwork on the weekend, he didn't actually know, all he knew was that he didn't sleep until sunday night, usually at about eight in the afternoon, and it was quite like insomnia. except not. it was hard to explain. anyway, this particular night he was sitting by his window, allowing the cool air to brush on his face and trying not to snicker at his roommate beside him shivering from the cold. he had been resting his head on the banister with his eyes closed when his ears picked up the sound of wings, and when he opened his eyes... there was an owl flying right for his head. there was a split second it where it seemed like the owl slowed down, and jack slowly started to back up and the thought flew through his head a second before collision. "... oh shit."
for the next hour, jack spent his time trying to remember the spell to cure minor injuries ("episky, or something like that.") and writing a very short correspondence sort of like email with his sort of friend jersey. they weren't best friends like tight, for her that was usually scorpius and his cousin dizeria, whom jack had always described as this "terrible force that was generally all talk and no action." he just couldn't say this to her face, as he kinda needed her on the quidditch field. what a cruel world this was. on with this tale, jack found himself to become friends with her owl, if not overly nibbled on, and actually came to understand that jersey actually was quite on edge, and scorpius and "diz" were starting to ignore her, and jack guessed that she was more bothered that scorpius was doing it, and not really dizeria. we go back to the way jack describes her right about now. moving right along, he found himself wanting to help, or at least give her some good company, and then found himself about to take a trip down into the common room to have a drink or two with her. maybe three. he didn't know how much jersey could drink when depressed to be honest.
now, jack generally tended to walk around in a lack of clothing, so he just quickly threw on a pair of worn out jeans (most of his clothing looked pretty worn out due to him falling off brooms and such in them, but he could clean up when he wanted to) and just a simple t-shirt. just a white one. made him seem darker then he actually was. it was a trick his sister had taught him. he slid out his room's door, and quietly clicked it shut behind him, leaving his kitten zoe all curled up, cute, and snoozing on his bed, and lightly bounced his way down the stairs with a grace most were pretty sure only people with their heads in the clouds possessed. on arrival to the common room, he was quite surprised to find it... almost moody like. in a near romantic sense, he just had to point out. the lights had been dimmed, for they lacked their usually bright happiness and flare (in other words, on a normal basis: you look at them and you're blind), and the fire had been re-lit, when jack knew for a fact it would have been out an age ago. he of course, ignored all this romantically seeming atmosphere, and made his way to jersey, who was sprawled gracefully along their most comfortable couch. he slid down onto the floor next to her, and put his hand on her shoulder gently, more brushing it with his fingers. "jersey... if you're tired, i can just let you sleep..."

She felt the touch on her shoulder, and sat up, pulling her cardigan further around her, and flicking her wand over at the fire again, feeling cold.
the slytherin common room was always cold without the fire on. something about being down in the dungeons, closer to the lake, and nature and all that, but she hated it. she was the kind of girl that loved winter but hated the cold, and hated summer, but loved the heat. hence her hate for the common room. but she put up with it, simply because it was a beautiful room. and jersey knew beautiful things when she saw them.
"aw, no, sorry, i'm fine."
she muttered, wincing as she she turned her head, eye catching one of the dim lights. they may be dim, but her eyes were killing her. she'd had charms on her eyes for years, ever since she was a kid. er father wore glasses, and, lucky for her, she had inherited his dismal sight, needing charms as she refused to wear glasses. but, there was only one fault, when the charms started to wear off, for a few weeks she'd be a recluse, wearing sunglasses almost everywhere to protect her sensitive eyes. however, looking stupid tonight was not on her list of things to do, so she'd deal. 'just remember to go and see the nurse tomorrow' she thought as she burrowed into the corner of the couch slightly as the room started to heat up. feeling a rumbling in her stomach, jersey looked over at the boy. "fancy anything to eat? i'm starving" she asked grinning, and, not waiting for a reply, she snapped her fingers twice. seconds later, a house elf appeared, clad in what looked to be a raggedy pillow cover. a scowl crossed the girls face. for jesus christ, couldn't they at least make themselves presentable before they appeared? she didn't want to have to look at that. "Miss Jones, Master Pucey" the elf bowed to each of them in turn, and then swivled to face jersey again, shaking. she didn't know what she was craving, something sweet, but not too sugary. a delighted grin crossed her face, and she quickily addressed the elf. "bring me some dessert rolls, the one's with icing, two glasses, and whatever jack wants." she ordered, not bothering with a please. it was the way she had been brought up, that house elves where there to do her bidding, whether they wanted to or not, and she didn't have to be polite in the slightest. at least she wasn't her father, the things he ordered the elves to do was disgraceful. but he was a violent man in almost every fashion, used to getting what he wanted and punishing those who didn't deliver, including his wife. but jersey didn't want to think about that. reaching down, she pick up the bottle, juggling it between her hands, grinning. she needed this. as she waited for the elf to return, she turned to face jack, still juggling. "soooo.... she muttered, before trailing off, having no clue what to say. her mind was in over-drive, and she was tempted t spit some crap out about the weather if she didn't find a topic of conversation any time in the near future.
