Matthew Neal Nott was born into an all pureblood family, great Voldemort supporters. Needless to say, he was trained to hate all muggleborns and muggles. During his Hogwarts years, he was put in Ravenclaw, much to his family surprise. His brother, the little kiss-up, was placed in Slytherin. But hey- better Ravenclaw than Gryffindor or Hufflepuff.
During the war, Matthew picked to be neutral, rather then to fight. During the end, however, he leaked some infomation to the Dark Lord without meaning to. It lead to the death of five Order members. After the war, he offered his services to Dumbledore- in order to pay off his debts.
Later on, Headmaster Longbottom offered Matthew a job at the University. Many professors didn't dare to take the job at first, seeing the after-shock of the war.
