Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.
Those words ran repeatedly throughout Tinsley's head, each word speaking the truth. What on Earth had she been thinking? Oh, right. She hadn't. That was the problem, if anything. This should be the last thing that's on her mind, given recent events. This was the last thing she should be doing. No, wait. Even considering to be doing. How could she? Tinsley tried to think some sort of reasonable logic for this idea. Oh, yes. She thought back to the pile of books, self-help for the 'depressed', that her mother had sent her and the therapy. Well, no. That didn't help. Just thought that her mother thought she needed therapy is strong enough to send her back into depression.
Apparently, they did care if you don't write back to them. Or even remotely show signs of life. Concerned that their daughter is turning into the living dead, Katie and Oliver Wood did everything that they possibly could. Not that it's helped much. For the most part, Tinsley just shrugged and listened. Did they honestly expect her to pour out her soul into a near stranger? She can barely do that with the people she's known since birth.
Not only was the idea of this date ridiculous, but it could lead up to...something bad. Tinsley's imagination also went with her, through her downward spiral. If anything, the night could end up in disaster. Trying to keep herself from having another nervous breakdown, having one after the death of her brother was enough for a lifetime, Tinsley slowed her stride to one of her favorite places in the world.
There was always something about the gardens that made Tinsley feel better. It's like you're isolated from the rest of the world, in your own bubble. Maybe, just maybe- this was exactly what Tinsley needed. Something to get back on her tracks. Maybe it'll even be good for her. After all, what's the worst thing that could happen? No. She really shouldn't think about that. The worst thing that could happen is that they'll hate her for the rest of her life. But the best thing that could happen is that they'll be friends. Which is possible. Definitely possible.
Right?
Although, when Jonathan suggested it, this probably wasn't what he had in mind. At all. Still, it just felt wrong to ask someone else. Mostly because she was the pity case of Hogwarts. But she was partly sure that she knew what Jonathan had in mind. The same thing that most people had in mind, when it comes to her actually. In theory, she should've fallen in love by now. Whether it's because of her inability to do so or the person in question- Tinsley really didn't care. All she wanted for those two said people to...well, not hate each other.
She crossed her arms across her chest, trying to convince herself that this wasn't the worst idea in history. Tinsley had spent most of this year being out of touch with everything, as the old Tinsley, the fun Tinsley- as she liked to call it, drifted farther and farther away. But now was not the time to get negative.
Maybe she really did have a thing for pain. At this rate, she'll be digging her own grave. Even so, she doubted that there'll be another like girl like her. As much as she wanted to believe that she can fix the relationship between them, she very much doubted it. The best she can hope for is that they'll move on. Well, that Jonathan will move on. As much as she loved her best friend, she hated to see him linger on past events. But who was she to talk ?
Put them both together, they both have more wit and sanity than her. Actually, even seperately they do. But who didn't ?

HOW STUBBORN ARE THE SCARS W H E N T H E Y W O N ' T F A D E A W A Y ? Why had Jonathan agreed to this? It was probably one of the most idiotic things he'd ever done. But the answer to why he had agreed to do this was rather simple: because Tinsley had asked him. Why had he cared if she went out and dated aroudn so much? It was honestly none of his business and now he found himself smack dab in the middle of it all. It was absurdity. He wasn't anything near smooth when he had gone out on a date for himself; it was probably only going to be that much worse on someone else's date. What had she told whomever she was inviting? Did he know that Tinsley had requested Jonathan to be present? And if that were the case, why had this other guy agreed?
Jonathan tried to think of people whom he'd seen Tinsley with recently in order to try and figure out who the third member of the party would be, but no one was coming to mind. He felt he had every reason to be nervous about spending time with someone when he had no idea who that person would be. He had learned that lesson all too recently. What he had thought would be an innocent meeting of two strangers had quickly turned out to be an encounter of two exes. Not exactly his definition of a spanking good time.
In his mind, he didn't really see how this "date" could end well. More than likely, Jonatahn was probably going to dislike whoever showed up just because he didn't think anyone was good enough for Tinsley. And though he had promised Tins that he would try and be polite, he wasn't sure if that was something he could actually do. However, it would be unlike Tinsley to actually give the bloke a chance. He could remember Roxanne telling him about the blind dates she'd tried to set her up on.
However, when Jonathan had first signed up for all of this, he had expected something a little more casual. He thought that maybe they'd go down for drinks at The Three Broomsticks (the alcohol probably would have helped his nerves). But no, that's not the sort of thing they had set up at all. When he had read Tinsley's owl about going to the Neverland Gardens, Jonathan almost lost it. He had thought he was tagging along on a much more casual date but now it was turning out to be much more intimate than he could have forseen.
Jonathan shook his head as though he could actually shake the pessimism right out of him. He couldn't go marching into this with a sour disposition, that would only lead to more problems. He tried to convince himself that he would actually give this guy a chance, whoever he was. It wasn't like it was Scorpius or anything, he couldn't even picture Tinsley dating a Slytherin and that's where the majority of the boys he definitely wouldn't approve of were. His mother had always hated his prejudice against that house because she'd been a member back in her day. However, his prejudice was nothing like his sister's who took the Gryffindor / Slytherin rivalry to an entirely different level. Maybe it was this rivalry which kept Jonathan hoping that Tinsley wasn't going to show up with a snake on her arm.
As he entered the garden, he saw Tinsley by herself, arms folded across her chest. She looked as though she was contemplating something; she actually looked a little stressed. He walked slowly towards her but still looked behind him a least twice to see if the other guy was anywhere nearby. He gave Tinsley a brief smile, "So the gardens, huh? So much for that casual meeting," he commented, rolling his eyes towards the end. He should have known better. After shoving his hands in his pockets he asked, "So who is he?" He tried not to sound overly curious but he'd never been good at masking anything.
